According to the new coming format for ebook djvu, you can download the browser plugin to read it at http://www.lizardtech.com or you can download a stand alone program called document express. I have not tried the document express yet. If you have any problems, please drop me a message.

Hard decision Python, Perl or PHP | Tuesday 27 July 2004

When I try to use database with my website, I face a hard decision. I myself prefer to use Python language because it is object-oriented language and I am familiar with it. Unfortunately, there is no module to connect to MySQL at this ISP. If I really want to use it, I must contact the host to install the module for me, which I may do so. The other 2 choices are Perl and PHP. Both are also very popular but I am not fimiliar with them. I think I'll try Python way first. Let's see whether ISP will do it for me.

Finally, I have passed through the terrible period of chicken pox. Now, there are only scars left from the war between virus and me. Since the lay out of my new website is more stable, I come back to think about the content again. If this website was located on my machine, it would have been easier for me bacause I can use a database for dynamic update of the content. In fact, I could create a database at my webhosting site but I am afraid that I will lose the content when I discontinue my contract

As a result, I plan to create a database at my local site and create python scripts to generate html pages using the information from the database and manually upload it. I shall stick with the plan for a while until I have a better idea. So It is time for me to desing a database.

So I switch back to English again. One of the reasons is that I hope one day my site could be searched on the famous search engines like google or yahoo. If it is true, I would like to have my site as English so that the engines can make word index. Another reason is to practise my English writing skill.

Today, I just add php script into my page. Now, last modified date at the top to this page is automatically created. I don't have to manually change it anymore. What a relief!!! And the second thing is I set up bulletin board. Please feel free to take a look and give it a try. If you want to test, please use the forum 'Test Me'. I'm planing to reorganize and change the look-and-feel of my website soon.

The first part of the trip to King ludwig II's castles can be found here, but the quality of image is not very good. I think it is better to burn a CD and distribute the files. So first, someone within our tour group should collect all photos and burn them. Any suggestions?
